Punxsutawney Phil

I don't know about you, but can I just say how relieved I am that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning???!!!

The mere thought of six more weeks of winter sent chills down my spine. (I know, I know, we desperately need the snow/rain precipitation here in Kansas.)

We started the cold and flu season unseasonably early in this house...Mary and Ben both contracted Fifth's Disease the last week of October, breaking out in the tell-tale rash on All Saint's Day (November 1st). Needless to say, it's been a long 13 weeks of "winter" around these parts!

But true to form, my kiddos always make me smile...even when I'm the one sick. Imagine my delight when Benjamin brought home Punxsutawney Phil yesterday!  I thought this was the cutest craft ever...

...and is it not the perfect example of Kindergarten "boy" work???!!!

My girlfriend, Lori Carolina , shared this same craft that she made with her boys...ahem...a bit better quality work you will see!  If you haven't been to Lori's blog...it is to die for! She is one of my seamstress heroes and after encouraging me to learn to sew, I now want to learn to embroider just.like.her!   She cooks...she sews...she homeschools...she creates beauty everywhere...and her home is definitely a safe haven!

Lori Carolina's Cute Groundhog Craft!

Anyway, there is something endearing about my 6-year old's work that warms this mother's heart...even if it is missing a googly eye!

Here's to an early Spring!

  5. Great craft! Smiling with joy that we that groundhog day seemed to go the way I wanted it. Six more weeks might have really made me feel gray.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are appreciated! As Mother Teresa said, "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
