B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was his Name-O!

Seems there's not much us wild and crazy Catholics love more than BINGO on a Friday night!  :)

This past Friday was Taco Bingo Night, a PTO fundraiser, for Mary and Benjamin's school.

Food was donated for FREE from Taco John's.  Yum!  We priced food by the plate...$7 for adults...$3 for kids ages 3-12...kids under age 3 were free.  And for large families...a flat $35 fee.  (We have lots of large families at our school parish).  Families were encouraged to bring a dessert to share.  Knights of Columbus provided iced tea, lemonade and water.

This kiddo was all about the "nachos"...i.e. taco chips.

Bingo playing started around 7:30 PM.  Serious business!!!  From senior citizens to grade schoolers...everyone was out for prizes...art supplies, puzzles, out-of-uniform dress passes...okay maybe the Seniors weren't out for "out-of-uniform" passes!  LOL

This kiddo was all about sliding the covers over the BINGO numbers.
He might have no idea what he's doing, but he had the time of his life.
Guess he was going for "blackout"!

Later on in the evening they stopped BINGO play for the raffle drawing.  We bought 12 tickets for $10.

My girl won a backpack that she had her eye on!
(My husband didn't appreciate the peace symbols..he told Mary we didn't believe in it.  LOL  I know my Catholic friends will appreciate the joke.)

Thankful she won something since she didn't win a single BINGO game. She was overjoyed when they called her name to come forward and claim her raffle prize.  At least we didn't have a repeat of this night. I've learned a lot of hard parenting lessons over the years and have turned more frequently to prayer.  (I might have also allowed her to sit with her best-ie which always helps to distract from losing!)

Here she is with one of her best-ies from school...love these girls!  We carpool with this cutie and I keep her after school on Wednesdays so that her mama can work late and have Fridays off.  She is a delight...so very kind and gentle with my boys.  She only has a sister so I think she enjoys the novelty of toys with more testosterone edge!

Hope you had a great weekend.  I finished my book after Saturday night Mass.  It was just me with the three kids (daddy was on-duty) and we had Offertory Service to do.  Aaargh...so fearful the little one will drop something...that's why he carries up the basket of envelopes (tithing). (That, and he might have tripped taking his canned good up to the altar for the food pantry basket!)

Shocked like many about the news out of the Vatican.  Praying for the Holy Spirit to guide the Papal Enclave and for the future leadership of our Holy Church.

  2. I had to laugh at the Catholic Bingo enthusiasts! Ain't that the truth? Yeah for the great prizes, too. I did chuckle at the peace sign comment ;) Sounds like my hubs.

So sad to hear that the Pope is stepping down.

  4. Thank you for stopping by my blog today Valerie! And for putting my reader numbers into the double digits! :-). This may seem like a silly question, but how hard is it to get a bingo night together like that?

Also, you said you live in a 1 stoplight town. My husband and I are considering moving out to a more rural area (houses are cheaper and you can get more land). How do you keep from feeling isolated? Can you tell I'm a wee bit concerned about country life? Still praying for God to guide us in our decision.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are appreciated! As Mother Teresa said, "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
