Rainy Day Woes

Mother Nature is seriously confused.  I just read on MckMama's blog that her kiddos went SWIMMING at the lake yesterday in 80 degree weather?  WHAT?  We had a  balmy 59 degrees here in Kansas City with a heavy rain that lasted all day and night and Minnesota has 80 degrees?  I think Kansas is the new frozen tundra!  They’ve even had warmer weather in Sweden according to my friend Christer!

So what to do when your children are doing their best to tear up the interior of your home…even though they have a play room in the basement?  (Could it be too damp down there for even the little ones?!!!)

Take them to Daddy’s work!  Because after all, isn’t a fire station just one giant playground for the big boys?

Look how tiny they are are next to that giant hook and ladder truck.  It’s like one enormous jungle gym!

And yes, my son really is wearing SNOW boots and my daughter a Christmas tee shirt, because this mama has yet to do a full closet conversion.  (Ben wore a turtleneck with shorts on Monday…quite the fashion statement!)

And even this guy thinks there’s too much rain…

OMG…I screamed and insisted that Fire Hubby promptly remove this guest resident.  And while I’m not a big fan of killing spiders…this guy was just too much for me.  *shiver*

Hoping drier weather and warmer temperatures arrive soon!

  3. I, too, love finding local blogging friends! I am in love with unique names and would have gone even more unique if my hubby would have agreed!

7-1/2 months pregnant? You are almost there! How exciting. I am glad I found you then so I can meet the brand new little one!

Yeah, I live in KC, MO north of the MO river. I figure we are a short drive from each other. I will have more time tonight and plan to go through and see the rest of your blog. My newest love, reading everyone's blogs! LOL

  4. I just read your comment on my blog Valerie and I am so excited! Great minds think alike! I can't wait to hear the whole thing. The weather here has been strange too. Last weekend was in the 70's and today it's in the 50's. It looks like the children enjoyed their trip to the fire station by the big grins on their faces. They were probably proud to see Daddy at work too. Have a terrific day and take care of yourself!

  6. Hi Valerie
Sorry summer hasn't come to Kansas yet. Just to make you feel better it's warmer in England too and that's saying something. It's 70 degrees today which is hot for us! It's so unusual for it to be warmer here than in the US. Hope you get some sunshine soon. I'll try to send you some!
Looks like your kids had a great time at the fire station. What a fun treat for them to visit their Daddy at work.

  7. eeewwww I hate spiders!! If they are outside, that is ok, thats where they belong, NOT IN THE HOUSE!! lol =)

I hope your weather improves soon, we are having a nice day today for once, but its supposed to start raining again tomorrow/Sat. I SO want to be outside being productive (so what am I doing inside right now, right? hehe). Great idea taking your kids to the fire station, looks like they had a blast. How neat to be able to go in and see their daddy!

  12. Thanks for the blog recommendation. Yeah, Brijet and Ainzley already cut their hair! I had to hide the scissors for a while and we have to have reminder discussions. She did very little damage though so I guess I was lucky!

Your kids are so cute. Have you thought of the name for baby #3?
