Chicken Versus Pig…

Bowl_of_chicken_soup Well, unfortunately in the chicken versus pig or well versus sick face-off, the pig won.  :(

Seems that although I have done everything right (Flu shots for my little ones in September, encouraging and practicing handwashing, carrying around antibacterial cleanser, and avoiding malls/grocery stores/crowded areas with my little ones) my daughter still contracted the H1N1.  We didn’t even have a chance to get this series of flu shot and we didn’t attend any “Swine Flu Parties”!

Although, we really won’t know because our pediatrician’s office discouraged us visiting while Mary is sick and said that they are no longer testing to confirm and just assuming that this is the proper diagnosis.

So the consensus is, if fever cannot be controlled with Motrin or persists longer than 4 days we need to make a visit to Children’s Mercy Hospital.  I really don’t want to visit Children’s.  Not that they don’t have delightfully helpful staff… just don’t want to see this viral infection get that far or develop into pneumonia.

For the time being, we are pushing the Motrin, fluids, and naps!

And for entertainment purposes, I thought that I’d share this cute series of photos that I took of Benjamin eating my Polish grandmother’s made-from-scratch chicken noodle soup.  These photos were taken a year ago (exactly) when we traveled to Detroit to celebrate her 88th birthday!  He could NOT get enough of those egg noodles!  They became friends for life that day!

Is he just not the cutest “Campbell soup kid” you ever saw?!!!  Perhaps I’m biased!
