Looking for My Blog…

Don’t turn back…you’re at the right place!  I’ve been toying with the idea of changing up my blog; especially after my computer crashed and I lost all of my digital scrapbooking files, including my WinZip software. So, I decided to just start from scratch.

1st Day of PreK 032 Chocolate Chip Cookies Made From Scratch

It’s funny, but as I approach my one year blogging anniversary, I find that my blog continues to be a work in progress; sort of like me! A year ago, I was addicted to all the cute backgrounds provided for free at The Cutest Blog on the Block.  Then, as a New Year’s Resolution, I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and began teaching myself the art of digital scrapbooking, and thus creating my own blog backgrounds and headers.  Now, I find myself  drawn to the more minimalist approach in decorating, style, blogging, etc. and like a more pared down look that focuses on the text and photography.

So, over the course of the next few days/weeks you are bound to see a few changes around From Our Front Porch Looking In as I manipulate and learn the ins and outs of Windows Live Writer.  Happy Blogging!

  6. Yes, Melinda, I thought it was so ironic yesterday, when you inquired about the changes b/c I had been contemplating installing Windows Live Writer for a few weeks. After your comments, I decided to take the plunge and REALLY change it up! Ha!!!

  7. I really like your new look. I'll keep watching for new changes. I like the less is more approach. I just need to get the courage to start fooling around with my blogs...maybe when I get closer to my year anniversary!

  8. My husband recently got me photoshop. I've been watching tutorials & reading all about making blog backgrounds too! If you have any pointers, please share! You can get some really cute kits to download at www.shabbyprincess.com/downloads.asp

I downloaded & love the "harvest spice" & "shabby fall". They are free & very cute!

  11. Hi Jan. Thanks so much for dropping by. I so enjoy visiting your blog and getting my creative writing fix!!!

I too was raised on the "less is more" approach to life. In fact, my mother taught me to always take one piece of jewelry OFF after getting dressed for the day! Ha!!!

  12. Hi Shana.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Congratulations on the purchase of Photoshop. It is so much fun, but can be overwhelming to work with! Tutorials are a must!

I don't know if you saw, but I have several digital scrapbooking businesses listed on my sidebar...love them, epsecially the freebies! In fact, Shabby Princess is one of my favorites, and it was one of their kits (Wild Love, I think) that I had used to create my blog background and header.

I'm gonna hop on over to visit you and see what you've been up to!

  15. You can use photoshop for digital scrapbooking? I guess that doesn't surprise me too much as it seems that you can do just about anything with photoshop. Do you have a link to a good tutorial on how to use photoshop for scrapbooking?

  16. I love the way your blog looks right now! :)

And your chocolate chip cookies made my stomach growl.

  17. What fun. I love how creative you can be with a blog look, or how minimalist. It's what makes each blog unique.

Hey, can I just have one of those cookies?

    Please...

How many WW points do you think they are? :)

  18. Morgan,

I'm gonna do a quick post on my favorite photoshop tutorial links...be on the lookout!

  19. Hi Julie,

I agree 100%...I love visiting other blogs...total eye candy even if their design is not my own style. So much fun!

And...no WW talk around here...LOL. I SO need to go back or at least dust off the old Points books!!!

BTW...those cookies did turn out to taste as good as they looked!

  22. Hi Gill!

    Hope you are feeling better!

Yes, I feel like my blog is naked without its custom header. Most of the blogs that catch my attention have a banner that speaks to me...I don't care for just the Blogger banner with my blog's title.

Not quite sure what or how I want to personalize the banner, but you can bet I will!

  23. Val, do you know how to make a 3 column blog?

  24. Hi Gillian.

I do know how to make a 3-column blog. I used a tutorial over at The Cutest Blog on the Block.

I also have some advice for tweaking if you decide to create one.
