Christmas Mantle

You might recall that this spring I did a family room makeover.

The room used to look like this...

The room now looks like this...

My dilemma?  All of my Christmas decorations for the family room were from the red/green/navy blue family.  And while I do love those traditional Christmas colors, they just were not working in this room.

So, I came up with a new plan for my fireplace mantle.

Limited funds meant "shopping" throughout my home and basement to come up with a new Christmas vignette.  Fresh cut greens, pine cones, a basket, pitcher/bowl and an antique window pane I bought at a flea market years ago, all came together to create this simple, country-casual holiday display.  I hoping to pick up some simple white pillar candles of varying heights to nestle among the greens.

I love these little pine cones.  Each one was handpicked by my then-5 and 3-year olds!

Hoping your day was "merry and bright"!  Small-town Christmas tree lighting post tomorrow!

  1. Very nice decor. Blue is so very now for Chrismas you know. More with the "Snow/winter" them really, but pretty cool.

Oh and you are more than welcome to come on down to the deep south and help me decorate. Have not even started. I'm doing good remembering our Advent prayers/calanders every night. :)

  4. Hello--
Looks great! The candles will look super too. Do you have anything silver or metal that you could put the candles in or on??
    Just an idea.
