This View...

It's November 1st.

One of my very favorite months of the year!

So many folks just want to skip right over it and get to the busy-ness of December.

Not me.

I have loved November since I was a little girl.

But now, as an adult, I find that November is the perfect month to slow down…and express gratitude…throughout this lovely month.

And it's even more meaningful to me now that I have a little boy of my own whose birthday falls right smack dab in the middle of this month.

He's a precious blessing that I'm ever grateful for…a sweet, sensitive soul, who refuses to be rushed and constantly teaches me about slowing down.

So on this first day of November I'm slowing down to express gratitude for this…

this view through our dining room windows…from our front porch looking out.

I invite you to take a moment and take in my view here in eastern Kansas...

Happy November!

  1. I share your love of November, Val. Something about the calm and family and home. I also have not one, but two birthday babes this month. .. my oldest and my youngest. : )

I loved sharing your beautiful view too! Stunning and cozy...

I am also loving your new place here. It looks and feels so beautiful and comfy...as if we are sitting on that porch swing sipping a hot cup of tea. : )

    1. Awww, Billie Jo, I love that you have TWO November babies!!! I always wanted Fall/Winter babies and always had Summer babies…God is funny that way! :) That's why I LoVe Ben's birthday so very much…b/c his conception caught us off guard and his due date was that much sweeter. ;) Thank you for the kind comments, dear friend!

  3. The fall colors look beautiful. Thank you for sharing. That is a view I never get from my front porch! :(

Florida has its own beauty for November but it doesn't include colorful trees with gold and crimson. Enjoy and happy birthday to your little boy in a few weeks. :)

    1. Thanks, Kari! I'm certain that being a former Midwesterner you can appreciate the colors of Fall…and miss them too. I do sigh every time my girlfriend posts pictures of her kids in shorts in late November/early December. :)

      Hugs

    1. Thanks, Tara…nowhere near as fantastic as the views from New England, but I'll take what I can get. No worries about visiting…we all live such busy lives. Hugs.

  5. It really is a beautiful view. As you know I am very jealous of the color. Today we woke to temps around 45. So nice to finally have a cool morning. It will hit 72 today and continue to stay warmer but at least I got one morning of those cold autumn kisses.

    1. Awww…42 must have felt WONDERFUL…and a high of 72 isn't bad! Ben and Daddy went on a Boy Scout campout last night and it was down-right cold! I'm sure they snuggled all night! LOL

  6. Oh my...you have a PORCH SWING, you lucky girl!!! You have a beautiful view out your window! We celebrate Thanksgiving in October here in Canada, but November is a nice month to just be still, isn't it? It was 4 degrees celsius (39.2 F for you!) and sleet here today. Plus we are having the bear issue, so I haven't even ventured into the forest for a walk, but I do like the cooler weather!

    1. Yes, Ellie, I just love November! Wow…39 degrees and sleet…ugh! Not quite ready for that, but it's coming, I know! Oh and the bear issue….eeek! I was worried about bears on my anniversary trip a couple of weeks ago (down in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas), but I think all the town's commotion keeps them away. A walk in the forest (especially after seeing your pictures) sounds delightful!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are appreciated! As Mother Teresa said, "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
