Simplify…Easy (healthy) Halloween Party Treats

Halloween and All Saints Day is nearly upon us and if you have little ones in the house you may be preparing for classroom parties, homeschool get-togethers, or church-night functions.

If you are anything like me, you might be looking for a healthy-alternative to the sweet treats that will be served at all of those events.

This year, I signed up to provide a treat for Luke's preschool class Halloween party.  As one of four moms on the "food list", I am going out on a limb and assuming that at least two of the moms are going to provide some type of cupcake/cookie/candy treat.

So this year, I decided to spend a bit of extra money and provide a healthy choice option for our little ones' plates.

Going off the likes/dislikes of my own preschooler, I decided to create individual serving sizes of summer sausage and Colby-jack cheese.

Of course, adorable Halloween picks with coordinating Wilton Cupcake Liners doesn't hurt either to tempt even the pickiest eater to try one!  I picked up my liners and picks at Walmart.

I began serving summer sausage and cheese cubes at classroom parties back when I was a full-time 3rd grade teacher to balance all the sweet treats that arrived.  I never had leftovers and always took home an empty platter, much to my husband's chagrin.  *wink*

This year, instead of 2 large platters of cheese and sausage, I decided to use my Snapware Cupcake Carrier, and create individual serving cups for the party.

I'm looking forward to seeing my little goblin all dressed up in his costume.  Can you guess what he's going as???  *hint…he wears part of his Halloween costume around our house every.single.day.*

Wishing you all a delightfully-frightful Halloween!!!

  1. Great idea, Valerie! When we have our Little Flowers/ Little Women meetings with a snack social afterward, the kids are always happy to see cheese cubes and grapes as part of the selection. I know the kids will enjoy your treats as well.

    1. Thanks, Patty! Yes, the kids really do love the fresh fruit and cheese/meat trays. They certainly cost more than the cheap sweet treats, but they say the best things in life aren't free! LOL Hope all is going well! Hugs.

    1. Thank you! I recently returned to work and I'm not the "rock star mom" (LOL) that I was during my stay-at-home days. Yet, I want my littlest, Luke, to have the same kind of memories that my older two have. I may not be able to be room mother, but I still want to do some cute things for his preschool class. Thanks for dropping by!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are appreciated! As Mother Teresa said, "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
