Weekend Escape: The Truitt

"Hometown Tourist"

This weekend, Pat and I escaped for an overnight "in town".  Like many urban centers and "downtowns" ours has experienced unprecedented growth and renewal. There are so many cute "boutique" hotels to choose from.

When I found The Truitt online, I knew I had hit the jackpot!  It was the perfect "staycation" for a quiet escape within our hometown, and located on the beautiful Country Club Plaza  After a ten day business trip that Pat took to the Northwest Territories of Canada (yes. literally up near the Arctic Circle), we were ready for a little R&R away from the kids.  With yucky weather and teens that need me close by, we opted to stay in town, but treat ourselves to a night away of luxury.

The Truitt did not disappoint.

The magic of its ambiance is apparent from the moment you happen upon its exterior.  A historic, brick, colonial mansion built in 1916, it harkens back to a gentler time.

The interior is just as amazing mixing vintage with modern.  Our room was beautiful and delightful to the senses.  The sitting areas were just as inviting.

If you are ever in the Kansas City area and wish to enjoy a quiet, relaxing, and peaceful evening in a historic setting, The Truitt is definitely to be considered.
