Simplify

A simple table and chairs has made all the difference at our house in mastering dinnertime chaos.

New Kitchen Table

“What,” you ask…you didn’t have a kitchen table and chairs?  Nope.

Rather, we would eat dinner on Saturday or Sunday (depending which night Daddy wasn’t on duty) at the table in our formal dining room, and all the other nights of the week, breakfast/lunch/dinner was eaten at the breakfast bar in our kitchen.  Not conducive to family conversation or good table manners!

So, after searching for months for the perfect solution, I found this simple country-style round pedestal from Better Homes & Gardens.  Yup, I got this beauty at WALMART!  And better yet, the price dropped from $259.00 to $199.00 after Christmas with FREE ASSEMBLY.

SIMPLY lovely in both beauty and functionality.  Wishing you a “simply” lovely week.

P.S.  I apologize for my lack of posting this past week.  I have been a bit under the weather, but am beginning to feel better!

  2. I hope you feel better! I love my kitchen table. I couldn't imagine trying to keep my kids even half behaved at dinner without being able to look them right in the eye from my seat LOL

  4. I love it! What a great price. I love black furniture, although I don't own any...yet :)....very nice cosy table. Now you just need some paperwhite bulbs in bloom on there!

Hope you feel better, this weather has been icky and hard to get cooties!

  5. We got a newer set for our breakfast room before Thanksgiving. No expensive at all but (we had to get two of them) but it makes such a difference. WE can now all sit together again as well. Not an easy task for a family as big as ours but equally important. You are so right that it is hard to learn table manors and have good conversation when you are not around the table. I remember playing a card game at a friends house in college. Her mom walked in and said, "why don't you all move to the basement or the living room where you will have room to play." My friend answered her, "This is where it feels most like home!" (Not the dinning room, living room or play room but the kitchen.) I have always wanted to create that "HOME" feeling in my kitchen as well.

  6. The table set is very cute Valerie! Sounds like you got it for a good price!

I have my eye on a large farm table. The table it's self isn't too horribly priced. But, it doesn't come with chairs. That's extra $'s. So it will be a while.

I hope your week is off to a great start!

  8. Hi Valerie, I just popped over from Julie's at "Wife Mom Nurse" I love making new blogging friends. Your kids are so cute. It looks like you all had a great Christmas! I love that dining table. Simple and adorable. Great for dining together as a family too. If you are interested, I would love for you to stop by and meet me and my family some time. It was nice meeting you.

  11. I love that table! How awesome that you got such a great deal on it. How does Walmart do assembly? Do they come to your house and set it up or do you have to take a truck to the store and drive it home out of the box?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. My jaw literally dropped when I read about you backing your hubby's car up and then I just busted out laughing. Too funny! I probably would have been crying too if I had been you, but it's hilarious now, right?! Right? :D

  14. It's beautiful!!! It's amazing how things do seem calmer when you're all sitting around the family dinner table together! I notice when my hubby and I stand up at the counter while the kids eat at the table, all chaos breaks loose. But if we're at the table with them, things are much more calm.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Oh and thanks for the additional comment about the whole reverse psychology thing...that makes a whole lotta sense!! I'm gonna try that!
