In 1968...Celebrating 50 Years of Marriage

On July 12, my parents celebrated 50 years of marriage.

They are very quiet, family-oriented, parents.  They requested no large party...no banquet hall, band, bar, type of scenario.

Rather, they asked that their children and grandchildren quietly celebrate their anniversary with them at Saturday night Mass and then dinner at their favorite restaurant on The Hill.  (The Hill is St. Louis' Italian community filled with family-owned restaurants, shops, Catholic churches, and quaint well-manicured homes just a stone's throw from downtown.)

We granted their wish and had a lovely intimate gathering of just the 15 of us (my parents, siblings, their spouses, and all 7 grandchildren + 1 cute girlfriend).  My parents paid for the meal.  The siblings paid for the wine!  The restaurant allowed us to bring in our own cake and the gift.

It was a joyful occasion and I feel so blessed to have my children and I witness this milestone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are appreciated! As Mother Teresa said, "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
