Carnival Mom

As I mentioned yesterday, I totally rocked it as "carnival" mom over the Labor Day weekend.

Or maybe I should say I "spun it" as carnival mom.

Because it seems that those sickeningly dizzy rides are my kiddos favorites.

And I promised them I would ride two carnival rides with them.

I totally should have opted for the carousel.

(Although that too can make me nauseous.)

The "dizzy dragons"

So very excited...

Showing off his tickets...

And no, we don't buy wrist bands because

a.)  they're $18 a piece and my kiddos don't go on "unlimited" rides...they're too young/tired/fussy, etc.

and b.)  that's an outrageous amount of money per kiddo for "carnival" rides...

and c.)  well, it's a better lesson in economics to have our 7-year old count up the number of rides she wants to ride and then add up the "# of tickets" it takes per ride.  Mama then helps her multiply the $$$ amount...and they learn a greater appreciation for the almighty dollar.

It still cost me a ton of money...I'm thinking of requiring some chore/birthday money as a contribution next year...

Snapshot before mama entered the dragon...

Next up...the "tea cups".

Heaven help me.  It wan't pretty.  Although I did manage to hold down my dinner...ugh!

Inside the giant tea cups.

This is the one and only picture of the tea cups.

You see, I was trying my darnedest not to fall over...we had just come from the dizzy dragons...and I was feeling a bit light headed.

I could not operate my camera inside the tea cup for pictures and the ride had not even started!

What in the world happens to us as we age...

...as this anti-dizzy-ride thing hasn't always been with me.

Is it a 40+ ailment...or does something happen to us after pregnancy/childbirth?

All I know is that I cannot handle these types of rides anymore.

(So do we spend the money on a trip to Disney World?)

Of course there were treats...which we ate AFTER we rode the rides.  I nursed a cherry sno-cone in hopes of settling my sour stomach!

Ben loves sweet...not salty.

Mary loves salty...not sweet.

A few other carnival pics...
He loves the motorcycles.
Miss Legs
Caught between toddlerhood and the tween years, I didn't have the heart to tell her that she will probably be too tall to ride the "kiddie" rides next year...yet not tall enough for many of the "adult" rides.  :(

So sweet...

Pure joy!

All in all, it was a beautiful night, out in the country, down by the river.  The short drive back into town with cool fresh air did my stomach and head some good.

Can't wait until Labor Day 2012.

Or maybe I can.

Have a great weekend!

  3. What a fun mom you are! I used to enjoy the rides, but now not so much. I have to say your rides look much nicer than ours. The fair down here has rides that look and sound like they are about to fall to pieces!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Your kind words are appreciated! As Mother Teresa said, "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
