Meet my new BFF, Zofran!

Zofran

Dear Blog Readers,

First, a huge THANK YOU to all of you that have left us such kind words and congratulations on this latest pregnancy.  I, especially, cherish each and every comment and plan on visiting each of you personally to say thanks.

Second, suffice it to say that my blogging has been, at best, sporadic since November.  While it can be attributed to several different issues of malaise, the worst culprits have been insomnia and nausea/vomiting, which I have decided, go hand-in-hand.  For weeks now I have been suffering in silence (okay, I’m not so silent around my poor husband), but I have been reticent to blog about these problems.  There’s just something unsettling about listening to the infertile one, now pregnant, complaining about symptoms.

Sooooo, I’ll just say that there’s been lots of puking and not very much sleeping going on.  Until.Last.Night.

Meet, my new friend, Zofran.  Zofran and I actually go way back…all they way to my pregnancy with Mary when I was still puking at 20-weeks.  Really, all I need are a few tablets to settle down my stomach and allow myself to regain my composure!  (It’s also my go-to-friend after surgery…I’m an anesthesia-puker, which is always ugly after c-sections!)

After the okay by my OBs office, my husband was able to bring home my prescription last night and I actually kept down a bowl of soup.  I SLEPT through the entire night and took a 2nd tablet this morning.  I have since kept down breakfast.  (I think my weight-loss plan is coming to an end!  LOL)  I have also done more housework in 2 hours than I have in the past 2-months.

Regardless of how I have felt, life has continued on.  I have still been SIMPLIFYING (i.e. getting rid of crap) and compliments of my parents generosity at Christmas, I have a beautiful new woman’s writing desk that I can’t wait to share with you. (I love “grown-up” furniture…you know the non-fiberboard stuff that you don’t actually have to put together, but is DELIVERED to your house!!!)

Finally, Happy Groundhog’s Day!  While we are not happy that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and that we might have to endure six more weeks of winter, Mary, Benjamin and I are eager to start making homemade valentines for the Grandmas, classmates, teachers, etc.

While I’m still feeling good, we are off to Michaels.  I will definitely be by sometime today and/or tomorrow to say hello and thanks!

Love,

  4. Wow! Congratulations! I guess I missed the announcement. I'm so happy for you. Must be another girl, if you are so sick. That's what I hear anyway...girls make you sick in utero and boys later in life. Take care of yourself. When are you due?

  8. Yeah! Finding something that works can be such a Godsend. One thing about getting sick is that ir reminds you how good you feel when you don't feel ill. Enjoy this blessing as I know you will. I am sure the little ones will be so happy to have their mommy back again. All my love to you, baby and family.

  9. Your furniture comment made me laugh! Brian and I just made a huge step forward for a young, married couple. We bought living room furniture! The kind that is delivered! We are loving our new family space and the free TV that came with it (Thanks to Rooms-to-Go!!). Everything we've had up to this point (with a couple of exceptions like our bed and Clint's crib) have been hand-me-downs or courtesy of IKEA.

When looking at the TV console at Rooms-to-Go, I opened a little cabinet door and was shocked. I turned to Brian and said "I just realized... we won't have to put this together ourselves, will we?" haha!

  10. I'm sorry your feeling yuck. I'm glad you got some meds though. I'm guessing girl. Only because I was hardly sick at all with Cooper. But I know everyone is different.

And as far as winter sticking around, BOOO! I'm so done with the bad weather in my state. Go away winter!

  12. Oh my! After going through seven pregnancies, I remember it well. Having my babies is something I would do all over again. It is one of God's gifts that keeps on giving, and giving taking us into old age which is where I find myself now. Lot of thing I may have changed about my life, but NEVER that. Enjoy every single day, even the ones when you puke! *smile*
Thank you also for your sweet comment on my "horror paint" story!

  13. One of my friends had horrible morning sickness and had to take Zofran. She loved it!!

My morning sickness wasn't so bad that I needed medication. I mostly got nauseous but never quite reached the puking stage.

I also have a horrible time with anesthesia after surgeries, esp my c-sections. Puking after having your tummy knifed open is the worst. I thought my stitches were going to break open a few times!

With my last c-section, when I told the anesthesiologist about my sensitivity, he used demerol instead of morphine as a pain killer and I didn't feel sick at all. It was SO nice. Maybe you should mention it to your anesthesiologist before your next c-section!

  14. It is so wonderful to hear that you are feeling better my friend. I apologize for my delayed response here.

The internet is a double edged sword...good info, scary info, inaccurate info. Thank goodness for trusted health professionals to guide us in the right direction when we may stray.

Hang in there friend...here's to many more good days this coming week and months :)
