National Widows Day: May 3

LOVE this precious picture of Chris and the kids.

"You never know what you have until it's gone."
~Joni Mitchell~

This is the last candid shot of Chris and the kids at Mary's theater debut at Olathe West High School
 as a Freshman.

This was taken in November of 2019.
Two months later, this man, larger than life, would be gone suddenly and unexpectedly.

These two family pics are like glitter bombs...the explosion is over, but the glitter is EVERYWHERE.

Ironically, today, May 3, is National Widows Day and these photos popped up as a memory for Luke on his phone.

Getting divorced will always be my biggest regret.  And losing Chris to death definitely taught me that sometimes we don't know what we have until it is gone.

Chris and I were far from perfect.  Our marriage had struggles, but it never had infidelity or deception.  I have learned over the past 8.5 years as a single woman, what a good man he was.

The kids and I are grappling with some very real and resurfacing grief.  Fortunately, we have resources in places to help us process our loss.

Chris, on this "National Widows Day" you are so very loved and missed. We know you are watching down over us and asking God to protect us.

Psalm 34:17-18

“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.”
