All I Want for Christmas...is a Foot Cast!
So, my appointment to the foot specialist on December 23rd didn't go so well.
Or maybe it did.
All I know is that I went in complaining of heel pain (plantar fasciitis) and came out walking in a foot cast!
Seems that the problem was a bit more complicated than some minor tears to the fascia (a thick fibrous band of connective tissue running from the heel along the bottom of the foot and extending to the five toes) which can be helped with a cortisone shot. Due to the length of time that I have struggled with plantar fasciitis, I developed a heel spur. The spur itself (a calcium formation off of the heel bone) is not normally painful.
Unless you fracture it.
Which I did. At some point. Unbeknownst to me.
Same pain. Just different day.
Okay, maybe a bit more painful, prompting my visit to the podiatrist.
X-rays showed an ugly fracture in the heel spur which is why I cannot walk on my foot at all. I've been hobbling (with baby in hand) for months now. I started experiencing knee and hip pain due to my unnatural gait. Good grief.
I get to wear the sha-boot (as my husband likes to call it) for the next 3-weeks 24/7...except to bathe.
I am soooo glad I didn't buy new Christmas shoes!

I sufffer from the same type of issues. Never a fracture (at least that I am aware of.) I am so sorry. At times the pain can be so overwhelming. Just another pain we can offer up for our children, right? (I am sounding like my grandmother - may she rest in peace. She was always reminding us to offer it up!)
